9th Doctor

Been a very long time (thankfully not as long the many, many years Doctor Who was off the air!), but finally I'm gonna finish the remaining Doctors in my Doctor-A-Month challenge.....even if I'm a few years and several months off...


As a kid, I grew up during a time when Doctor Who was only on VHS tapes, the occasional TV re-run, and whatever merchandise I could get my little-nerdy hands on. I dreamed for years of seeing a new Doctor Who series! After the 1996 movie, it seemed like there was a chance the series would come back, but as the years went on, my hopes slowly waned.

Then in 2005, as if out of nowhere, out popped the 9th Doctor, Christopher Eccleston, with a contagious smile, sporting a smashing jacket and a whole new series of Doctor Who! He was funny, over-the-top, yet also brought a tragedy to the character, carrying the weight of the Time War on his shoulders. One minute he could be dead serious, forlorn and full of anger, the next he would smile and off he'd go doing what he does best: being the Doctor.

While I wish we could've had more seasons with Christopher, for the one we did get with him, it was absolutely fantastic!
